The selected candidate for this position will be joining the Greenlawn NY Operations team in the Manufacturing Engineering/Technical Operations group and will provide sustaining engineering, process development and new process implementation across the manufacturing floor through hands-on problem solving, data analyses and application of engineering principles, Six Sigma and lean manufacturing principles to improve product flow and yields.
In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program.
Responsibilities may include:
Creating and maintaining product and process work instructions, and improving the work instructions to reduce Cost of Poor Quality.
Developing new processes and implementing changes in product flow to support the production line through the application of lean manufacturing principles.
Analyzing defect data to identify areas to improve yield. Working with others to implement process improvements. Applying Lean Six Sigma tools to solve production problems and improve existing processes. Using poke yoke principles to prevent production problems.
Participating in and documenting root cause corrective action (RCCA) using problem solving methodologies.
Defining and specifying the requirements for assembly tooling, fixtures and equipment to support current manufacturing operations and recommending changes for production line continuous improvements.
Supporting the implementation of new automation assembly equipment including programming, process qualifications/validations and supporting tooling design.
Researching emerging trends, techniques, methods, and current best practices to improve our processes and meet tomorrows challenges.
