Contract Position

Responsibilities
This Mechanical Engineering role will design and release mechanical components and subsystems for military ground vehicles. This includes the application of engineering principles to generate designs to solve complex problems and provide support for the build, test and production of the designs. The areas of focus may include shock/vibration isolation and mounting of devices, and stowage equipment integration. Other possible assignmentscould be seating and crew accommodations, battery enclosures, hydraulics, fire suppressions, and driver controls.
- Design and release mechanical components and subsystems for military ground vehicles, focusing on shock/vibration isolation, stowage integration, and mounting solutions
- Develop and integrate components to meet vehicle performance requirements, including human factors, safety, environmental, ballistic, and mine blast criteria
- Conduct design analysis of mechanical systems, including tolerance stack-ups and material selection, with a focus on welding and fabrication for brackets and mounting structures
- Support vehicle prototype and production build efforts through fit checks, technical troubleshooting, failure analysis, and corrective actions
- Generate engineering change documentation, material requests, shop work requests, and technical reports
- Present design concepts and project status updates to functional and program leadership
- Oversee CAD modeling and drawing development; collaborate with internal design teams using NX and Creo tools
- Participate in integration reviews and ensure timely delivery of parts and components
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance may be required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design or engineering, preferably in military or defense applications
- Experience in component and system-level design and integration
- Hands-on experience supporting prototype and/or production builds
- Proficiency with NX and Creo CAD software; familiarity with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup is a plus
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes
- Must be able to work independently on component and system designs but also be able to work well in a collaborative environment for vehicle integration
- Ability to climb on/off and work around military vehicles
- Previous experience working on ground vehicles desired
- Willingness to travel up to 10 to other facilities or military installations.
- Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings, and overtime as needed
