9/80 schedule and onsite in Huntsville, AL (Position is offpost, not at Redstone Arsenal)
Minimum Starting Salary: $70,000 per year with full benefits package (This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors, geographical location, etc.)
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the Ground Based Midcourse (GMD) Weapon System (GWS). The successful candidate will support the Ground Weapons System (GWS) program as an individual contributor on the SPA team. This role is responsible for developing SW products that directly support the design and development of the GWS capability on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain software tools and models supporting system performance analysis for the GWS program
Use MATLAB to build analytical tools and interpret defense system behavior
Read and understand legacy codebases in C++ and/or Ada for analysis or translation
Support code translation efforts to modernize legacy tools
Collaborate with analysts and engineers to validate simulation results and refine analysis tools
Contribute to data analysis tasks using Python, including Monte Carlo simulations
Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, on-site environment
Present findings and contribute to technical documentation and briefings
Travel up to 10 to support program reviews or test events
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Active Secret Clearance required to start
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM-related field
2+ years of professional software development or analysis experience
Proficiency in MATLAB
Ability to read and interpret C++ and/or Ada codebases
- Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with code translation and modernization efforts
Familiarity with the As-Built SPIDER model used in system performance simulations
Experience conducting Monte Carlo simulations for defense system evaluation
Proficiency with Python for statistical and simulation-based analysis
Strong critical thinking and presentation skills for technical communication
Capable of contributing in both independent and team-based environments
