Boeing Research & Technology is looking for a Systems Engineering Manager based out of Fairfax, VA.

Within BR&T’s Mission System Technologies (MST) organization, Boeing’s Future Systems Capability Technology Team (CTT) will perform systems engineering for future systems, leveraging world class, next generation technologies, aligned with Boeings Disruptive Computing and Networks (DC&N) organization. The senior systems engineering manager for Future Systems will be responsible for leading a team located in Fairfax and Annapolis Junction, VA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Systems Engineering.

  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives.

  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.

  • Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers.

  • Forecast, obtain and manage personnel, facilities, services, equipment and tools to meet project and organizational requirements.

  • Determine critical skills for the organization; develop and implement staffing and development plans to ensure necessary skills are available; Ensure proper job classification of employees.

  • Set employee goals and objectives; evaluate performance to plan on a recurring basis; and provide a fair and equitable work environment.

  • Initiate and improve cross functional partnerships with others inside and outside Boeing to realize mutual benefit.

  • Help others understand the vision and values of the organization and will translate it into actionable research plans.

  • Consistently recognize a wide range of risks, opportunities, and issues and determine whether action is needed to insure organizational success.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret / SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 10+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role (either as a lead or a manager)

  • 10+ years of experience in Systems Engineering

  • 10+ years of experience in Product Development

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Demonstrated experience in new business and new technology team building

  • Demonstrated experience in classified technology team building

  • Experience working in an agile model-based system engineering environment

Summary pay range: $166,600 – $225,400
