Role Introduction
Reports to: Head of Finance – Business Partnering
This position is for the finance business partner who will serve Engineering department. As a finance business partner, he/she will support the BU in their performance and KPIs analysis, providing insight and decision support, financial planning on budget and forecast, Investment business case review and facilitate BU financial transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Director Engineering and Engineering Leadership teams to develop a financial awareness within Engineering such that each individual understands the financial impact of the decision to the company therefore always make the best decisions.
- Develop a deep understanding of engineering operation, its objectives, challenges, and key drivers. Partner with the Director Engineering setting the Department’s Business performance review (discussing P&L performance; balance sheet; cash flow; and major projects) and KPIs in line with the business budget and plans. Coordinate preparation of the Annual/Interim Business Review.
- Ensure Engineering financial reports are properly prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, the group’s accounting policies, Listing Rules and other statutory requirements. Provide insightful business performance analysis and performance trending on a monthly basis to support management decision making and facilitate Engineering monthly financial meeting.
- Prepare budget and regular forecasts, including the annual budget monthly forecasting and 10 year plan (including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash flow, project related budget / forecast);
- Supports business case development for project investments applying appropriate IRR/NPV analysis, including constructive review of the commercial rationale, financial implications, project risks and benefits tracking, etc.
- Support corporate transactions and ensuring technical account implications are aligned with financial reporting team.
- Lead the team to prepare interim and annual audit for Engineering accounts.
- Assist Engineering team to fix system issue (UM/SAP interface etc)
- Participate Engineering Initiatives Meeting and lead the team to verify financial benefit framework of those initiatives.
- Digital transformation. Led the team to perform financial digitalisation transformation initiatives.
- Proactively identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and shift the teams focus towards value-added activities.
- Provide ongoing education on fundamental accounting principles to Engineering team, tailored to their needs and organizational requirements.
- Uphold and enhance financial control measures within Engineering department.
- Develop the team’s competences and successor planning.
Requirements
- Relevant degree and/or experience in Finance or Business. Professional accounting qualification such as CPA will be required.
- Minimum 8 years of finance experience, project management or PMO experience (managing projects, budget and financial tracking and issue resolution).
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
- Experience of preparing and reviewing business projects will be required.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation and influencing skills with high standard of written and spoken English.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to all levels in the organisation and agility to work within a team environment.
- A quick learner with the ability to work independently, be self-motivated and attentive to details.
- Prior extensive knowledge in aviation, especially engineering preferred but not required.
