Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate and driven intern to join our flight test instrumentation team. This role involves designing, installing, and troubleshooting instrumentation hardware in Joby aircraft. A can-do attitude is a must for this fast-paced environment in which every team member relies on each other to perform to their highest potential. Previous experience with flight test activities is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Help develop manuals and supporting documentation necessary to operate flight test instrumentation systems.
- Complete required documentation in accordance with established company and FAA procedures.
- Install and troubleshoot instrumentation systems on aircraft and in the ground control station.
Required
- Pursuing or has completed a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with day-to-day applications used for email, word processing, etc.
- Data analysis experience using LabVIEW, Matlab, Python, or similar tools.
- Mechanical design or manufacturing experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with colleagues across a wide range of technical disciplines.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, work extended hours, and travel as required.
- Proficiency in reading and speaking English.
Desired
- Previous experimental flight test experience, preferably related to eVTOL or UAS.
- Hands-on experience in motor sports and/or electric vehicles (e.g., AIAA Design, Build, Fly; Formula SAE).
- Heading into junior or senior year of an undergraduate degree or above by the start of the internship.
- Experience with CATIA tool.
The pay range for undergraduate interns, including freshman to senior-level students, is $ 22.00 - $31.00/hour. The pay range for graduate interns with a Bachelor, Master, and/or Ph.D. degree is $5,550 - $7,800/ month.
