Arconic Architectural Products in Eastman, GA is looking to fill a Maintenance Apprentice position. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager and will work with a team of technicians to provide support to the entire Eastman facility, including the Reynobond production line. The Apprentice will be part of a skill development program aimed at gaining specific production troubleshooting and repair knowledge. In this role, the apprentice will learn multi-craft maintenance of our manufacturing equipment by working closely with other maintenance employees and attending in house development/training. The Apprentice will be evaluated after 3 months, and each month thereafter, with the goal of moving the apprentices to a ‘full-time’ Maintenance Technician position after successful demonstration of the skills taught.
During the first 8 weeks of assignment, the apprentice should expect to work day-shift hours Monday-Friday from 7am - 3pm for training purposes. After the skill development program, the apprentice will be assigned to 11pm-7am shift.
Starting pay will be $24.14/hour. All hours worked on second or third shifts are eligible for an additional $1.00/hour premium.
Job responsibilities include:
- Learn preventative and predictive maintenance.
- Learn the 12 Step troubleshooting program
- Learn to identify and look up parts in EAM maintenance program.
- Learn the use of hand tools and other required equipment.
- Learn to use a grinder, test gauges, and electrical testing equipment.
- Learn to effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments as regarding work accomplishments and findings.
- Participate in morning meetings, perform safety system requirements, log work hours and comments on work orders in EAM maintenance software.
The goal of the apprenticeship is to be able to independently demonstrate, with limited support, the above knowledge, skills and abilities in order to progress to a maintenance technician position.
Required Skill and Experience:
Basic:
- High school graduate or GED
- Must be eligible to work in the United States of America. This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
- Willingness to be ‘hands-on’ is required
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to learn how machines function.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the job, including standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing and lifting at least 50 pounds.
Preferred:
- Vo-tech or technical school training in a mechanical trade
- Advanced mechanical skills
- ACM line maintenance experience
- Problem solving experience
- Experience performing preventative maintenance on hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and pumps
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues to root cause
- Proficiency with basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel
