The Manager – Materials Management (SIOP Focus) is responsible for leading the materials management function, with a strategic focus on driving the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process. This role ensures alignment of demand and supply planning, inventory optimization, material flow, and supplier performance to support production schedules, customer satisfaction, and company objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials planning, SIOP facilitation, and cross-functional collaboration to drive operational efficiency and business results.
Key Responsibilities:
SIOP Leadership & Facilitation:
- Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of the SIOP process, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Collaborate with Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to create consensus-based demand forecasts and supply plans.
- Facilitate monthly SIOP meetings and reporting to drive data-driven decision-making.
- Identify supply/demand risks and recommend mitigation strategies to balance customer requirements and operational constraints.
- Integrate new product introductions (NPI), end-of-life planning, and product transitions into SIOP.
Materials Management:
- Oversee material planning, scheduling, inventory control, and procurement activities.
- Establish and monitor key material management metrics, including inventory turns, material availability, excess/obsolete inventory, and supplier performance.
- Lead initiatives to improve materials flow, reduce lead times, and optimize inventory levels while maintaining service levels.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality to resolve material-related issues impacting operations.
Supplier & Inventory Management:
- Manage supplier relationships, performance, and capacity planning in alignment with forecasted needs.
- Negotiate supply contracts and agreements to ensure cost-effective, timely, and reliable material flow.
- Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and continuous improvement of inventory systems.
- Drive initiatives to reduce excess and obsolete inventory while ensuring supply continuity.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems for planning and materials execution.
- Analyze supply chain data, forecasts, and historical trends to provide insights and actionable recommendations.
- Prepare SIOP reports, material status updates, and KPI dashboards for executive leadership.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in materials management, production planning, or supply chain management.
- 3+ years of experience leading SIOP / S&OP processes in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or equivalent).
- Proven ability to collaborate across multiple functions and drive alignment.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Deep understanding of supply chain principles, material flow, inventory management, and capacity planning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or other data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
