Job Summary:
The Controller is responsible for all financial affairs in Kawneer Canada and acts as a business partner to the Plant Manager. The Controller manages a team of two and reports directly to the Plant Manager of Lethbridge (the main Kawneer operation in Canada), and functionally to the BCS Operations Finance Director.

- Compliance
- This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements, as well as an effective internal control.
- Act as an authority on GAAP related accounting matters for Canadian entities, including areas such as revenue recognition and cost accounting.
- Identify differences between Canadian GAAP and US GAAP, and work with corporate accounting to best manage them in statutory and reporting ledgers.
- Approve journal entries as requested by Arconic/BCS policies.
- Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations reviews.
- Ensure testing of internal controls is performed to ensure adherence with Arconic and BCS internal audit policies and procedures.
- Oversee the preparation, timeliness and accuracy of all submission of tax information: Property Tax, VAT and all other taxes related to Kawneer activities in Canada.
- Collaborate with corporate resources for tax, treasury and accounting matters.
- Work with Arconic Corporation Benefits Accounting around pension schemes and actuary assessments; including the accounting impact.
- Coordinate with internal/external auditors on the execution of tax, financial, operational, and internal control audits.
- Liase with corporate treasury and implement banking processes as necessary
- Administer all pension plans (Defined Beneft and Defined Contribution) as well as coordinate with external auditors.

- Closing
- The Controller is responsible for the integrity of the closing process (1-day close) for Oracle and JDE systems.
- Collaborate with Arconic financial shared services.
- Lead and optimize the efficiency of the month-end closing process.

- Business Partnering
- The controller works as a business partner to the Plant Lead Team.
Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets and forecasts, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flows.
Investigate variances between actual and budget/forecast financial results through bridges.
Lead the daily P&L analysis.
Lead in deployment of unit cost analysis to ensure costs variances are analyzed and cost opportunities are investigated
Work collaboratively with procurement to monitor vendor spending, analyze variances and investigate cost opportunities
Provide analytical information to support business decisions: Product Margin Analysis, Working Capital Assessment, Risks & Opportunities, etc.
Lead the Business Case development for Cap Ex projects.
You have: (required)
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 10 years experience in finance or accounting preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 5 years in a Controller role preferably within a manufacturing environment.

Excellent Microsoft skills (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and enhanced knowledge of Excel, Hyperion or other data reporting tools.
Oracle/JDE Experience preferred.
Experience of standard costing within a manufacturing environment is a plus.
Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian and US GAAP.
History of forecasting, variance analysis and financial reporting.
Understanding of self-assessments or internal audit process.
Certificates & Licenses: CPA (or alternate) designation is required.
