Field Service Technician – Cold Weather All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV)
Location: JBER Anchorage, AK
Travel: Minimal (local, with occasional field support)

STS Technical Services is hiring a skilled Field Service Technician to support Cold Weather All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV) operations for the U.S. Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserves in Anchorage, Alaska. This hands-on role is mission-critical, supporting next-gen CATV platforms in extreme weather conditions.
Position Summary:
Based at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) in Anchorage, this role provides expert in-garrison and field-level maintenance support for CATV systems—the modern replacement for the Small Unit Support Vehicle (SUSV). The Field Service Technician will manage diagnostics, repairs, upgrades, and warranty services across multiple vehicle models.
This position offers long-term stability, minimal travel, and the opportunity to work on specialized military vehicles in a demanding but rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on CATV systems
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, HVAC, suspension, and electrical components
- Execute system upgrades, retrofits, and warranty repairs in both shop and field environments
- Maintain detailed documentation using Microsoft Office and service record systems
- Communicate effectively with military personnel, teammates, and leadership
- Adhere to all program protocols, safety procedures, and government regulations
- Operate effectively in cold weather conditions for extended periods
- Support operations at JBER and other nearby military installations as needed
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Valid state-issued driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport and Common Access Card (CAC)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of a Military Maintenance MOS (Heavy Track/Wheel/Engineer Equipment) or equivalent civilian training program
- Minimum of 6 years hands-on maintenance experience with heavy vehicles or equipment
- Proficiency in hydraulic, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting and repair
- Basic computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office
- OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification or willingness to complete prior to start
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Former U.S. military technician with rank of E-5 or above in a maintenance MOS
- 4+ years of experience working on tracked or heavy wheeled vehicles
- Experience operating in arctic or cold-weather environments
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving
