Tasks
The key responsibilities and duties of the Grinder include, but are not limited to:
- To operate all types of grinding machines to fine limits
- To be able to work unsupervised/ minimal supervision
- To be able to read and understand technical drawings
- To be able to work with cylindrical and surface grinding machines
- An awareness and understanding of responsibilities outlined in the Company’s environmental procedures
- You will be required to maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book
- You may be required to train personnel with a specified area subject to your qualifications and experience
- All duties shall be undertaken in compliance with Safety and Environmental Regulations and Company Procedures
Requirements
The ideal Candidate should meet the following requirements:
- GCSE level or equivalent
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Extensive experience with internal and external grinding machines
- Cylindrical and surface grinding experience
- CNC grinding knowledge preferred
- Aerospace background preferred but not essential
- Self-motivated with strong analytical skills
- Effective communicator at all levels
- Good planning, organisation, and admin skills; PC literate
- Works well under pressure and makes sound decisions
- Eager to learn and share knowledge
- Strong team player focused on continuous improvement
Working Conditions
- Flexible with hours, including occasional weekend overtime
- Exposure to greases, oils, and manual handling
- Use of hand/power tools, overhead cranes, and complex machinery
